English Adams

1754 - 1794

Strongly influenced by the archaeological discoveries of Pompeii and Herculaneum, the British architects and brothers, Robert and James Adam, illustrated a return to Roman architecture with classic lines and sober mouldings. The Adam style is characterised by neo-antique ornaments and typically 18th-century refinement and elegance.
