First time mentioned in a Belgian journal in 1884, Brussels became one of the epicentres of Art Nouveau. Showcasing floral patterns, curves and elegant silhouettes, it was an elaborate aesthetic prevalent across a range of disciplines. Belgian architects such as Victor Horta, Paul Hankar and Henry van de Velde were amongst the first to introduce the style which soon blossomed in the rest of Europe and the US.
